In Plain Sight: Invisible Sculpture at Luxembourg & Co.
In Plain Sight: A Display of Invisible Sculpture at Luxembourg + Co., London, presents a critical inquiry that showcases works by artists who have redefined sculpture through immaterial, conceptual, and performative approaches. The exhibition surveys a century of sculptural practice that manifests not through material form, but through gesture, imagination, or disappearance.
The display brings together works by Man Ray, Piero Manzoni, Bruce McLean, Maurizio, and Gino De Dominicis, whose Statua (1979) is among the most conceptually charged inclusions. This work asserts spatial presence through concealment, reduction, or instruction, inviting viewers to question the boundaries of the sculptural object.

Gino de Dominicis, Statua, 1979
The inclusion of the Statua is particularly significant. Known for his refusal to conform to institutional visibility and for guarding the metaphysical core of his practice, De Dominicis remains one of the most enigmatic figures of the Italian avant-garde. Piero Tomassoni, curator and advisor, has been deeply engaged with De Dominicis’ legacy and was pivotal in enabling rare public access to this work.
In Plain Sight reframes absence not as void but as proposition, challenging the viewer to reconsider the conditions under which sculpture is perceived, remembered, or even believed.
